It would be incorrect to refer to the hydrofloss as the hydrofloss waterpik - these are two separate products and should not be confused.  Regarding the hydrofloss vs waterpik, there is a difference that you should be aware of.

The HydroFloss or more correctly: the Hydro Floss oral irrigator has been demonstrated in two different studies to 'reduce plaque buildup by significant amounts' in between office visits.  These studies were peer reviewed and published in the Journal of Clinical Periodontology.  The first study was published in May of 1993 and the second in 1998.  

Hydrofloss tips:  The Hydro Floss comes with 4 color coded jet tips - this was meant to be one for each member of a family of four.  Generally speaking, hydrofloss inc suggests that these tips should be replaced every 90 days.

There is another tip called the hydrofloss pocket pal.  They are designed for 5 and 6 mm pockets.

However, I currently use them based on a story that I actually heard from a customer.  He told me that his friend, who is an oral surgeon (therefore you can bet her gums are very healthy), uses the pocket pals as a preventive measure on a daily basis. I have adopted this practice myself.

I was told by my dentist and hygienist that I needed a Scaling and Root Planing treatment.
